We stayed the night before the trip in the charming town of Bayeux. Flo picked us up at the hotel promptly at 9am and a day we will always treasure began. I had told Flo we were Band of Brothers fans and he was able to tailor the tour for some of those sites. We were in awe of Flo's knowledge, enthusiasm and his ability to bring history to life. We toured Utah, Omaha, Pointe du Hoc and the American cemetery just to name a few of the stops. We feel like we made a new friend that day. We recently had the opportunity to travel to Europe and retrace the footprints of my father during WWII, he is 94 y.o and traveled with us. We got to... read more know Florent as he had interviewed Dad a year earlier (along with over 500 others). Our trip with Flo started from Paris where they picked us up at our hotel, from there we drove to Belgium and thru Germany to Magdeburg (Elbe River) where Dad was when the war ended. Along the way, Flo had found the house in Belgium where we think my Dad was injured by the exploding tank shell. He has contacts with other historians who were familiar with Dad's outfit and they met us on different days to give more in-depth information. Also, my Dad had recalled liberating a German prison which housed French and Russian pow's. After some research, they drove down two-track and dirt roads to find the remains of this prison which by now had grown up with trees. We knew it was the site because in the woods was the old concrete sentry station of the main gate. Florent's knowledge of and ability to get all the information needed was just amazing and they were very accommodating and friendly! I would highly recommend Flo, he is an absolutely astonishing and knowledgeable person! …

It all started more than two years earlier when Flo interviewed my father to find out about his experiences while serving. At that time, we knew Flo had such a heart for learning about the personal experiences of the more than 500 WW2 veterans he had already interviewed stateside. Flo showed so much gratitude for the sacrifices our troops made and was sensitive to the emotional wounds that were not fully healed. Fast forward two plus years later and we were walking in the footprints where our father had been 75 years prior. Flo was very knowledgable about so many details from 75 years ago, shared images from WW2 of areas we went through and also connected us with other historians who were equally as knowledgable. One of the hi-lights of the journey for me was when Flo would locate those who lived in the towns at the time my father was there fighting for their freedom. Through Flo's excellent translation skills, we were able to hear their heart-wrenching stories. The hi-light for my father was in the countless expressions of gratitude shown by passers by. I can't thank Flo enough along with all others who assisted him in making sure this was a trip of a lifetime for all of us.
